Rowley Conservation Commission elects new chair and vice chair after resignations

ROWLEY — May 9, 2019 — Rowley's Conservation Commission reorganized Thursday after recent resignations, unanimously electing Bob Garner as chair and Sam Strife as vice chair. Strife, who cited his Massachusetts Association of Conservation Commissions training as a qualifying factor, was also appointed to fill a vacant seat on the Community Preservation Committee. The commission held its first public hearing on a Notice of Intent and companion Stormwater Management Permit for a proposed two-lot subdivision at 491 Main Street, near the Great Marsh Area of Critical Environmental Concern, where engineer Deborah Colbert of Hancock Associates described an ongoing stormwater redesign after test pits showed the original infiltration site "was not perkable"; both applications were continued to May 28. The commission also voted unanimously to close the public hearing on a Notice of Intent for a new single-family home at 77 Railroad Avenue, filed by David F. Jayquith, and to issue an Order of Conditions with special requirements for the coastal site.
